Originally performed at the Appelrouth Grill in 1999, Undying Love: The Musical distills the atmosphere of Key West in the 1930’s, and perfectly melds the pathos of von Cosel’s tale with Harrison’s signature dry humor.
Sesame Street meets The Exorcist in this outrageous comedy. Hand To God tells the story of an awkward Texas teen named Jason, who spends his afternoons at his local church, practicing for the Christian Puppet Ministry run by his widowed mother. All hell literally breaks loose, however, when Jason’s puppet Tyrone takes on a shocking and dangerously irreverent personality all its own. 28, and the festival, a 6 week commemoration of the literary icon who lived on the island for thirty four years, is to continue into April and boasts a full roster of writing and painting contests, film and poetry forums, curator tours of the Tennessee Williams Museum at 513 Truman Avenue, a March 26th birthday party for the playwright, and 2 one act theatre productions of the Pulitzer Prize winner’s work. At 4 pm on Friday, Key West Art Center kicks off a Plein Air tradition ten years in the making with a demonstration by John Clayton. Linger after the demo to enjoy light refreshments, speak with the artist, and pre register for Plein Air Key West. Artists of ALL levels are encouraged to participate. Saturday, Plein Air Key West begins as artist registration opens promptly at 8 am at the Key West Art Center. All participants must get their canvases stamped during morning registration before heading out to paint at the location of their choice. Friends, family, strangers, and artists alike are invited to enjoy a refreshing array of treats at the Happy Hour Show Sale from 5 to 7 pm. Come share in the excitement as the winners are announced and CASH PRIZES awarded at 6:15 pm. All Plein Air paintings created that day will be on display and available for purchase. The artist participation fee for Plein Air Key West is $30 for Art Center Members, $35 for non members.
