FOXBORO Several North County youths have made the New England Revolution’s 2017 18 youth development academy teams this season, the Major League Soccer club announced Friday morning.
In all, 86 teenagers across the six state New England region will comprise the rosters of five L’il Boys In Blue teams, with no players older than 18.
Thirteen year old Aidan Rodriguez of Lunenburg is a defender and midfielder who previously played for NEFC,
while Lancaster’s Cole Dewhurst, 14, who played for FC Stars, is a midfielder.
Fourteen year old Samuel White of Sterling played for Bayside FC.
The Groton based players are 14 year old Matthew Fordham,
a former NEFC striker, and 16 year old goalkeeper Austin Causey, formerly of Richmond United.
Leominster’s Diego Fagundez was once a member of the Academy, and now is a first team choice of New England manager Jay Heaps. Soccer Youth National Teams. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs. The Academy will return 43 players,
while 43 new players have been added.
“We’re looking forward to the continued growth of our Academy program and are excited to carry five teams. With the addition of our U 15 team, we are able to provide more opportunities for players in training and in matches,” Revolution Director of Youth Development Bryan Scales said. “We believe that this group of players will continue to represent the club with class both on and off the field.”
In 2016, the New England Revolution Academy created an Under 12 Alliance with partner clubs Bayside FC,
NEFC, and Valeo FC. This season, 16 players from the three clubs will join the New England Revolution Academy at the Under 14 and Under 13 levels.
Qualified and talented players are accepted into the program without regard to their financial situation.
All players’ needs and expenses related to soccer activities training, facilities,
equipment, uniforms, travel associated with competitions are provided by the New England Revolution at no cost to the players or their families.
