An Oakland County Sheriff deputy is hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a car on Tienken Road just west of Rochester Adams High School Thursday morning.
David Hack, 50, is a 17 year veteran of the sheriff office who is assigned as the school liaison officer. He was transported to Ascension Crittenton Hospital by the Rochester Hills Fire Department where he being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
Driving the Taurus was a 24 year old Oakland Township woman who was on her way to Oakland University when the accident occurred, the sheriff office said.
The incident remains under investigation by the county crash reconstruction unit. Results will be reviewed by the Oakland County Prosecutor Office.
Rochester Community Schools Superintendent Robert Shaner posted a statement on Facebook regarding the accident. It states, in part statement on Facebook: morning we were deeply saddened to learn that an Oakland County Sheriff Deputy was hit by a passing car in front of Rochester Adams High School on Tienken Road. (the deputy) is a pivotal part of our community and we will continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers. Our Critical Incident Team remains available to provide support for our students and staff. Investigators believe the killing was deliberate. The driver is charged with murder.
